| Artfully Born was "birthed" from a desire to see the beauty and normalcy of birth renewed in our society. The name of the company is meant to imply that like pieces of art, each birth is unique and different. A woman in labor is not a project to be managed, but a masterpiece to behold. As a doula, it is my job to exhort and uplift a woman as she walks through her labor....remind her that she is not alone - that she is strong and capable, and surrounded by care and compassion, ushered into the blessing of motherhood. |
| Thank you for your interest in Artfully Born Birthing Services. This company was "birthed" after the VBAC delivery of my 3rd child. It was such an amazing and empowering experience that it ignited a passion in my heart to become a birth doula. I trained through DONA in June of 2008 and attended my first birth shortly thereafter. As of June 2010, I have attended around 60 births and counting! I am truly blessed to walk with women in their journey through pregnancy and birth. It is my desire to help educate and prepare a woman for the process of labor, and to help her to find the confidence within herself to face her birth without fear and anxiety. I offer childbirth education services to assist in preparation for labor and delivery. As a doula, I attend birth at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center with either Susan Roque, MD or her Certified Nurse Midwife, Marcia Ensminger. Currently, I am President of Doulas of the Charlotte Area (DOCA). I enjoy educating the community and helping new doulas with their careers through this wonderful organization. I am also studying midwifery and work as an apprentice midwife, hoping to become a Certified Professional Midwife(CPM) by 2012. |
