 I am a CAPPA trained doula and aspiring midwife. I have always had a love for pregnant women and birth. As a senior in high school I was finally able to attend my first birth and was hooked. I went to college, graduated and began my career teaching elementary school. Although I loved teaching and being with children, I found myself constantly asking questions and having conversations with my "doula" friends about birth. The more questions I asked, the more research I did, and was shocked at the culture of birth in America. In my research, I found that women are not being fully informed about their options in  birth, are not always supported by their care providers in their choices.  This has led to outcomes/ experiences that they are disappointed with. As a doula, my objective is to support you and your partner in the birth plan you choose. Although every birth is different and you cannot predict the outcome, as your doula, my goal is to empower you through prenatal education, emotional and physical support and various comfort measures during labor. I hope that as a result of this, both you and your partner will be satisfied with your birth experience. All women deserve the birth of their choosing that is best for themselves and their babies.
